Jenny Saville

This is an artist I studied during my Uni years and although that was a good few years ago now, she has always been an artist I find myself going back to review her work.
There is no denying her work has a cold and harsh, sometimes grotesque feel to it portrayed by the poses of her studies and the cold colours used. However, at the same time there is something almost memorising about her work. For figures/ images that todays society would normally title as 'ugly' or 'grotesque', Saville has painted them in a way that looks sore, yes, but also softening and beautiful.
